BLOND:ISH, Insomniac Records Team Up For SoCal Beach Clean This Weekend
BLOND:ISH and Insomniac Records are teaming up to keep California’s beaches clean this weekend.
The famously eco-conscious house artist and founder of Bye Bye Plastic, a nonprofit dedicated to removing single-use plastics from the music industry, will host a volunteer beach cleanup with the label on Saturday, September 14—hours before she’s set to take the stage at California Plaza for her upcoming Abracadabra Los Angeles show.
The cleanup will take place at a to-be-announced beach in Southern California from 9AM to 11AM. All cleanup supplies will be provided and attendees are encouraged to come dressed in comfortable clothes, wear sunscreen, and bring a reusable water bottle. Afterwards, eco-conscious house heads can hang around for “food, drinks, and good vibes,” according to the event’s sign-up page.
The green team-up follows the release of BLOND:ISH’s latest single, “Never Walk Alone” with vocalist Steve Appleton, which landed on Insomniac Records last month. Fans can expect to hear the new track during BLOND:ISH’s label takeover show, which will also feature sets from Nico de Andrea and Malóne.
Since its launch in 2020, Bye Bye Plastic has set new standards for eco-conscious touring and partying in the music industry across a variety of initiatives.
In addition to helping artists adopt its “eco-rider” to limit their use of throwaway plastics while gigging, the foundation has partnered with scientists to launch reusable bioplastic cups made from bacteria at a variety of dance music events and helped debut the world’s first biodegradable PHA vinyl record, an alternative to environmentally unsustainable PVC vinyl production, at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2022.
