Chris Lake & Disclosure Drop Anticipated Debut Collaboration, “in2minds”
Chris Lake and Disclosure have released their hotly anticipated collaborative single, “in2minds.”
The psychedelic club track arrives on Lake’s Black Book Records today in partnership with Astralwerks, marking the two Grammy-nominated artists’ first official collaboration in a historic convergence of two of global house music’s most lionized figures.
In a testament to their innate musicality and boundary-pushing vision in the studio, “in2minds” paints a Picasso-like portrait of Lake and Disclosure’s never-before-heard sonic lovechild, marrying the latter’s infectious melodies and the former’s raw underground sound.
Shuffled rhythms, frenetic beats, and scintillating synth flourishes swirl around the track’s thumping 808 bassline with total disregard for convention, making for a beautifully chaotic clubland banger.
“This was a fun and natural collaboration for me,” Lake said in a press release. “We made ‘in2minds’ the first day we got in the studio together. Disclosure and I are both pretty technical, and with this song, it feels like we kind of flexed on each other a little bit. The result is the collaboration of two minds.”
Excitement for the release has steadily built to a fever pitch since Lawrence gave “in2minds” its first play during Disclosure’s B2B set with Mochakk at Cercle Festival in May.
Lake, who also teased the track during his Black Book On The Pier show in Brooklyn in July, joined Disclosure’s Friends & Family Los Angeles pop-up for another FOMO-inducing track tease in August, and “in2minds” has since become a staple selection in performances from leading DJs like Four Tet, salute, Joy Orbison, Ben UFO and more.
“In2minds” follows the release of Lake and Disclosure’s respective song of the summer contenders, “Summertime Blues” with Sammy Virji” and “She’s Gone, Dance On,” which have charmed the masses across a busy summer of festival performances, including each act’s powerhouse set at HARD Summer last month.
As the months grow colder, Disclosure is slated for several huge appearances at festivals like San Diego’s CRSSD, San Francisco’s Portola, and Miami’s III Points before bringing Friends & Family to The Warehouse Project in October. Meanwhile, Lake is booked for festivals like New Orleans’ Hells Gala, South Florida’s Suwannee Hulaween, and Arizona’s Super Unnatural.
